Is it safe for American and Canadians to travel to Egypt now?

Is it safe for American and Canadians to travel to Egypt now?

Article by Webmaster

Since medieval times, Egypt has always been a favorite destination for tourists from all over the world. The good weather, the many beaches of the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, and the diversity of monuments that the land of the pharos hosts always attracted travelers from different regions to come and visit Egypt.

However, with all the political events that started with the people’s revolution against the government on the 25th of January 2011, and with many countries placing warnings to travelers who want to visit Egypt in this period like the United States of America and Canada, many questions jump in the head of a tourist before thinking of coming to Egypt. The most important question is “is it safe to visit Egypt now?” and The answer to this question is “Yes” for many different reasons

The tourism business in Egypt has proved that it was able to be strong enough to pass through a number of challenges in the past few decades. The travel companies, with the help of the Egyptian people and the Egyptian government, were always able to get through all of these obstacles.

The first challenge was the incident that took place in Luxor in 1997 when a group of criminals attacked a number of tourists in the Hatshepsut temple in the West Bank. This accident affected the tourism business in Sothern Egypt for years. However, the Egyptian government, by increasing the security masseurs in the region and adding security gates at the entrance of every monument in Luxor and Aswan, was able to attract tourists again to come to Egypt. The Egyptian people as well played a major role in making their country regain its position in the international tourism business.

The second hard challenge that the travel business in Egypt had to face was the bombing that took place in Sharm El Sheikh in 2005. However, the whole image and environment in Sharm El Sheikh after this incident was totally different from what happened in Luxor as tourists coming to Egypt knew that these accidents happen everywhere in the world and not only in Egypt.

Although the number of tourists coming to Egypt and to Sharm El Sheikh in particular decreased, a large number of tourists, especially from Russia, the United States, and England, didn’t cancel their reservations, went to Egypt, and enjoyed their trip very much.

I had the chance to visit Sharm El Sheikh two weeks after the bombing and the beaches, restaurants, hotels, and nightspots were full of tourists. ” I feel secure in Sharm El Sheikh more than my own country”, one tourist said at the time.

Moreover, things are getting calmer and calmer in Egypt as time passes by. Especially after the Egyptian former president, Hosny Mubarak, and his sons, Gamal and Alaa, as well as many other corrupted high officials, were put in jail and are they awaiting their trials now.

The Egyptian people now feel that their revolution have achieved its goals and the streets in Cairo and all the other cities around Egypt are gradually getting back to normal.

The Egyptian police forces that withdrew from the streets in the beginning of the revolution on the 28th of January are now going back to their position in the streets of Egypt. The new Egyptian minster of interior affairs, Mr. Mansour Al Esewy, declared that all the policemen and police officers are already back in their positions everywhere in Egypt. Even the curfew that was set during the last two months has been informally cancelled now and you see people in the streets till the dawn.

Furthermore, all the museums, ancient monuments, archeological sites have been reopened again and they are operating with normal working hours. Even the Egyptian Museum of antiquities, which is located in the middle of the Tahrir square where the Egyptian revolution factually took place was reopened in March and the visitors were welcomed by flowers when they enter the museum.

On the other hand, Franco Frattini, The Italian Minster of foreign affairs noted that Egypt is getting more and more stable and encouraged the Italians to visit Egypt in large numbers as they used to do. This is the case with many other European countries that their governments have canceled the warnings concerning traveling to Egypt.

All of these factors encouraged tourists from different European countries to visit Egypt In the previous period. the airports of Luxor, Sharm El Sheikh, and Hurghada have received hundreds of tourists in the end of March and in the beginning of April

Another important advantage for travelers to visit Egypt now is to enjoy the wonderful weather in cities like Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh on the Red Sea and Luxor and Aswan in the South of Egypt. The weather in these cities is still not very hot in the morning and wonderful in the afternoon and at night. In a month or two, the weather would be too hot for travelers to enjoy their stay in these major Egyptian cities.

Travelers, should as well, take advantage of the great deals and low price packages that the Egyptian tourism companies, hotels, shops, and restaurants are offering now. A tourist can save up to 30% if he visits Egypt now and he will still enjoy himself and feel secured in the land of the Nile.

Egypt is and will always be a safe country to visit. Tourist from all over the world will always feel secured in Egypt more than any other country in Europe or in America.

Usually activities and stops in any city in Europe would close up at 9 or 10 at night. This is not the case for Egypt. One can enjoy himself and have a lot of activities to do until late at night or even until sunrise. A lot of people like to call Cairo, the city that never sleeps.

The Egyptian people have always been known for their wonderful hospitality and generosity with tourists. “We are always friendly with foreigners and they are the very important to us, we would defend them with our own lives. They are our guests and we consider our guest as a family member”, a taxi driver said in an interview in the Egyptian Television.

Flights To Egypt: What You Should Know

Flights To Egypt: What You Should Know

Article by janetjhon

Egypt has been home to one of the most ancient civilizations. With the soothing Nile and the Great Pyramids, this is a land that is enigmatic and intriguing. About 80 pyramids were built in Egypt by about 20,000 to 30,000 workers over a period of 80 years, as far back as 2600 BC to 1500 BC. Giza houses the largest pyramid, called the ‘Great Pyramid’, with a height of 481 feet. Possibly, the most enigmatic of all that Egypt is home to, is the Sphinx. Even today, archeologists are scrambling to decipher the ‘Riddle of the Sphinx’. Egypt is mostly covered by the Sahara Desert, but thanks to the river Nile, its land is cultivable and densely populated. You might want to ride the ‘Felucca’ at sunset, down the river, with a panoramic view of the land. The busy market streets of Cairo give a glimpse of its vibrant culture and art. Visit this historic city on flights to Egypt from various international destinations.

Flights to Egypt from International Locations

There are many options when selecting flights to Egypt from the world over. Egypt has numerous international airports in Cairo, Luxor, Alexandria, etc.

‘Egypt Air’ is the most dependable national carrier, connecting to major destinations around the world. There are plenty of other airlines, including the Emirates and Lufthansa, making round the clock trips to Egypt from various European countries, as well America, Africa and Asia.

Given the choice of carriers to Egypt and the large number of tourists visiting the country each year, make sure you make the right choice not only while booking flights to Egypt but also while making hotel reservations.

Book Cheap Flights to Egypt

With the rising popularity of the internet as a resource, booking flights to Egypt online could be your best bet. However, the mind boggling range of travel sites can leave the best of us confused. Here are some ways in which you can ensure that you get a good deal on your air fare:

1.Try to visit Egypt during the off season. Tickets during the prime holiday time will be much more expensive than tickets during lean periods. Check out information on Egypt and on air fares to the country to know when the best time is to travel.

Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town have been linked by a fast rail service since 1923 and in 1946 the train was officially named the blue train. Two sets of coaches were built in 1972 and refurbished in 1997 to provide a luxury rail experience, a magnificent moving five star hotel. Currently two other operators also provide luxury rail travel within South Africa and beyond its borders.

In terms of travel, Africa possesses numerous advantages. It is a vast, largely pristine and staggeringly beautiful continent, rich in wildlife, teeming with vibrant culture diversity, and utterly different from Europe or North America. From the dramatic struggle for survival on the African plains to the stunning panorama of mountains, deserts and waterfalls, from sun washed beaches to the steaming jungles of the interior, the variety is truly awesome.

Africa’s inequalities persist in its travel patterns. More than half of all visitors to the country go to either South Africa, Egypt, Morocco or Tunisia, and these are the only countries in Africa which appear in world’s top 50 by visitor numbers. Only eight African countries attracted more than one million visitors in 2004, but the WTO figures for one of these, Zimbabwe, are something of an anomaly and reflect short term local land border crossings rather than evidence of the thriving tourist industry the country once enjoyed. Indeed, Zimbabwe is one of only two stages in the world to have experienced negative. GDP growth between 1997 and 2006, for those who trust that education holds the key to prosperity. There are encouraging signs, for Zimbabwe has comfortably the highest adult literacy rate in Africa.

Adventure is a key feature of African holidays. Although many safaris concentrate on luxury, an increasing number of overland and adventure operators offer packages for those on lower budgets. Fly with us to get the cheap flights to johannesburg.

Useful Information to Consider before Buying Cheap Tickets to Egypt

Useful Information to Consider before Buying Cheap Tickets to Egypt

Article by Shawn Trelly

Some of the most intriguing sights in this world are to be found in Egypt. The country draws thousands of Britons on cheap tickets to Egypt from London and other parts of the UK for their vacations. In the recent past, Egypt did suffer some bad press over political violence, but situation is limping back to normalcy. Presently, curfews are enforced during certain hours and the degree of tension is different in different parts of the country. Sift through some of the important points to ponder over while travelling to Egypt.

Visa Requirements

Travellers holding British passports usually require a visa for entering Egypt, though Egyptian authorities have been quoted as stating ‘British nationals travelling to Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba resorts only, for up to 14 days, do not require a visa; they shall receive a free entry permission stamp upon arrival. If you intend to travel out of the mentioned areas or overstay, you must obtain a visa’. Egyptian Immigration authorities have the sole right to allow or refuse entry into the country so while one may feel lucky to have grabbed cheap ticket to Egypt and a visa, remember that these two alone always do not guarantee the entry. Travellers with a visa, which is out of date by over 14 days, may also be prohibited from leaving the country. British Nationals can check detailed visa related information by visiting the FCO website.

Local Laws and Norms

Egypt is an Islamic country and travellers must do their bit to respect local sentiments. For instance, women should avoid wearing revealing clothes. Drug laws are very strict and possessing drugs can even result in life imprisonment and the death penalty. Homosexual display of affection in public places has also landed many people in jail on the count of violating public decency laws. Similarly, such acts in public places between heterosexual couples are frowned upon as well.

Best Time to Visit

The best time for going to Egypt depends upon the place to visit. As a thumb rule, the winter months of December to February constitute the high season, while the summer months of June to August make for the low season. However, there are higher chances of getting cheap tickets to Egypt during summers. Summers are also popular for a vacation in the beaches of Southern Sinai. For sightseeing in places like Alexandria, Luxor, and Cairo, the safe bets prove to be the spring months of March to May and the autumn months of September to November.

Main Airports

The Cairo International Airport is one of the busiest in the African continent and plays host to quite a few London to Egypt flights. The airport is served by more than 30 airlines operating passenger as well as cargo services in the international, domestic, and regional sectors. After Cairo, the next busiest airport in the country is the Sharm el Sheikh International Airport, which is served by a good number of airlines operating cheap flights to Egypt. Some of the other important airports are Luxor International Airport, Aswan International Airport, Alexandria International Airport, and Hurghada International Airport.

How to Spend Your Time in Egypt’s Luxor

How to Spend Your Time in Egypt’s Luxor

Article by Lek Boonlert

The most famous and desirable travel destination in the northern region of Egypt, Luxor attracts visitors with its exotic charm, colourful culture and friendly people. Those who are looking for things to do in Luxor will find that there are plenty of interesting and exciting options to choose from, which include riding a camel through the desert or taking boat ride along the river.

Sightseeing is also a good way to get to know the city, while those who like to shop until they drop are sure to find plenty of places to stretch their credit cards to the max.

- Camel riding in Luxor
Camels have been the transportation method of choice in Luxor for several centuries, and these mighty beasts still play an important role in the lives of the city’s people to this day. While it is possible to simply take a short camel ride across the city to see the sights, those who have a strong sense of adventure will probably want to book a longer excursion, which will take them into the very heart of the desert.

- Hot Air Balloon Rides in Luxor
Hovering above the city of Luxor in a hot air balloon is sure to be the experience of a lifetime. A number of professionally run companies offer this type of trip, and everything is provided to make the experience as enchanting and memorable as possible.

- Sightseeing in Luxor
One of the first places on the list when seeing the sights of Luxor should be the world famous Temple of Karnark, which is said to be the largest temple complex in the entire world. One of the best things about the temples of Luxor is that traditional Egyptian rituals and rites can be seen carved into to walls and ceilings or painted in vibrant colours, which allows visitors the chance to gain an understanding of local religious practices.

- Felucca riding in Luxor
Taking a ride on the Nile in a local boat known as a felucca just before the sun starts to set is an experience that is sure to remain with visitors for the rest of their lives. There are also special cruise packages for visitors to choose from, which last from anywhere between five hours all the way up to five days and offer a unique opportunity to see this stunning part of the world from a fresh perspective.

- Shopping in Luxor
Like many popular Egyptian cities, Luxor is famed for its colourful bazaars, which are piled high with Eastern promise in all shapes and sizes. However, purchasing products in the bazaar can be a rather hair-raising experience for the uninitiated, and first time visitors to Luxor may want to enlist the help of a local guide to make sure that they end up paying a good rate rather than inflated tourist fees. There are also air-conditioned malls to shop in for those who want to take a break from the heat of the day.

- Festivals in Luxor
The festivals of Luxor are known for their vibrance, and this is an excellent time to visit. One of the most important celebrations of the year in Luxor National Day, which is held on the 4th of November each year. visitors should note that the leading Luxor hotels become extremely busy at this time of year, and anyone who wishes to witness Luxor National Day or any of the city’s other exciting festivals should secure their accommodation far in advance.

Horoscope Holidays and All Inclusive Holidays in Egypt

Horoscope Holidays and All Inclusive Holidays in Egypt

Article by Jenny Bailey

Like it or not, your ideal holiday destination is written in the stars! The practise of astrology dates back to 2000 BC when it was first used by the Babylonians to predict seasonal weather changes. The Egyptians also practised astrology and were the creators of the zodiac signs that are still in use today. In ancient times, astrology was a highly respected science. It has less respect today but is still unnervingly accurate. So if you fancy all inclusive holidays in Egypt, best check if that is the right holiday for your star sign!

If you’re an Arian, you aren’t big on planning. You’d sooner jump on any plane and work out what to do when you arrive at your destination. The best holiday for you is somewhere no one else has been. Danger is a big turn on, so Kenya is perfect. The idea that only an armed Masai warrior stands between you and getting eaten by a hungry lion excites most Arians. Taurus needs are simple. Good food and pleasant surroundings, preferably at a bargain price rocks their boat. That’s why all inclusive Turkey holidays fit their bill. Travelling with a Gemini is like travelling with a toddler. They’re into everything and need stimulation as much as most people need air! They’d love New York; plenty of shopping, museums and people watching – perfect!
Cancerians love familiarity. It’s hard to get them to try new destinations. That’s why the perfect holiday for them would be the Maldives. The people are friendly, it’s tropical and it’s by the sea. Look no further!

Leo, being a fire sign, wants only the best and wants to ensure people notice them enjoying the best! Leos would love Venice, especially if they stayed at a swish hotel, in a luxurious suite with garden surrounds. Exactly the right environment for a king of the jungle! Virgos are ideal travelling companions because they are so organised. Germany is their spiritual home with its romantic castles, world class museums and trains that run on time! Librans love their creature comforts and love to be surrounded by beautiful things. They’d love Mexico; all those markets with cheap home ware items – divine! Scorpios relish extreme environments, like the creatures they were named after. They would love the fading elegance of Budapest. Many would find it melancholy but Scorpios would find it romantic. Sagittarians live for new adventures. Gambia is tailor made for them. The vibrant energy of Banjul with its strange culinary delights, such as baby octopi, would appeal to Sagittarians. Capricorns love quality and exclusivity. They feel at home on mountains, being goats so all inclusive holidays in Greece would gladden their little hircine hearts.

Aquarians love a challenge. Anything unusual or unexpected excites them. Aquarians would love every aspect of the Azores whether it’s walking up the side of a volcano, taking a dip in a thermal pool or searching for elusive animals and birds, it’s all grist to the mill for the water carriers. Finally Pisceans. They are a law unto themselves, living part of the time in the real world and most of the time in a fantasy world. Being a romantic dreamer, the Christmas markets in Germany would appeal to them, especially if it was snowing and especially if there was plenty of Gluhwein to drink!

Egypt Tour: The Land Of Pyramids Offers A Lot

Egypt Tour: The Land Of Pyramids Offers A Lot

Egypt is a country with much to offer by way of things to do and see. And since shopping is certainly high on every tourist’s agenda, this must be part of your Egypt tour too. There are amazing shopping opportunities in which one of Khan al-Khalil. It was built around 1382, and when visiting this unique marketplace be sure to take a map along with you since it is easy to get lost in there. Hiring a guide is another good idea and be prepared to bargain, which in itself is an art form.

While here, it is also possible to hire a taxi or go by bus to nearby City of the Dead, which houses funerary complexes of the sultans of Mamluk and their emirs. There are great khanqahs here including the Khanqah of Barquq, Khanqah of Sultan Barsbey and the Funerary Complex of Qaytbey.Cairo, and more notably Old Cairo, also has a lot to offer in the form of amazing architecture and history that is characterized by the Coptic Museum.

The Egyptian Antiquities Museum is a must see on every tour and it may take more than a single day to take it all in as there is a vast collection of Egyptian antiquities to admire and view.No Egypt tour would be complete without a trip to the pyramids there, and you could enjoy them even more by hiring horses rather than camels at places such as Gaza.

There are also many other places of interest that would make Egypt travel more complete, and these include visiting Alexandria, Memphis and Sakara, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel. The more adventurous would find sailing up the Nile on a rented Falouka quite an adventure, though it is not recommended during the summer months when there are too many mosquitoes in addition to the extreme hot weather.

This is merely a small preview of what you can expect on a tour to Egpyt. Are you ready to tour the land of the Pyramids?
